How
to use these Romsets with your PCB:
Step1: Your Kingdom Grandprix PCB should have 4 Eproms on sockets. Only ROM5 at position U81, is relevant for swapping the revision: Unpack the Rom-File from the zip archive you have downloaded from here and burn it to a new 27C256 Eproms using an eprom programmer. It should work by reburning the old Eprom too, if you properly erase them first. Step2: Set the PCBs region jumpers to the correct position. English version Roms will not work properly with japanese settings and vice versa ! In case your PCB has just solder spots like on the photo below (click on 'Jumper settings'), you should solder bridges with a wires to close them. You can also solder a DIP switch over the jumpers, to change them again later. hints: You can remove an eprom from a socket by sticking a flat screwdriver between eprom and socket and then rotate it carefully until it lifts both sides of pins out of their slots. Always keep an eye on the correct direction whenever you place a eprom into a socket (Make that small gap at one side of the chip, fit to the markings on the PCB) |
